Local ladies get into the spirit of fashion fundraiser

Hundreds of pounds were raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital from a fashion show held in West Sussex.

Organised by Caring Lady Funeral Directors in Goring, the event was held for a second time after the success of the first fashion show in 2019.

A total of £432 was raised on the night for GOSH, £50 was raised in commission from Travelling Trendz and a further £144 was raised from the cake sale and lucky dip which is being donated to West Sussex Mind – a local mental health charity based in Worthing.

Kelly Laird, Funeral Co-ordinator at Caring Lady Funeral Directors, said: “The evening was a great success, everyone had a really good time.

“We managed to sell out of all the cakes and many people went home with brilliant raffle prizes.

“There was a good crowd of ladies at the event, who helped give the night a great atmosphere. My colleague Sandra really did an amazing job in organising the event.”

This year’s event, on 20 February, was organised by Funeral Co-ordinator Sandra Choi with the help of Travelling Trends who organise fundraising fashion shows across the south of England.

There was a live catwalk show as well as the opportunity to try on and buy this season’s high street and branded fashions at bargain prices.

Sandra Choi, Funeral Co-ordinator in Goring, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to the Strand Bakery who very kindly donated cupcakes and other cakes for us to sell on the evening.

“We are very grateful to the local businesses that donate prizes to almost every event that we organise. These include Pixie’s greengrocers, Worthing Fisheries, Glamorous You hair and nail salon, FIT N TONE and Tanseekers.”

The fashion show was held at Goring Conservative Club and was part of the funeral director’s community engagement programme which includes fundraising, donations and volunteering.
